Shou-Lao Will Not Be Showing Up in Netflix’s ‘Iron Fist’

Netflix is preparing to unveil the very first season of its fourth series in the Marvel Cinematic Universe Iron Fist in a few days. With fans of the character already pumped and speculating, confirmation comes regarding one epic rival’s appearance – or lack thereof.

As it seems, those in need of satisfaction of their dragon addiction will have to stick to Game Of Thrones for now. It is now official that the immortal dragon Danny Rand is known to defeat and get powers from in his origin, the infamous Shou-Lao, will not be showing up in the series. In a recent interview, the show’s lead Finn Jones explained the reasons behind the beast’s absence. In his own words:

“I’d love to have the budget for these shows to have a full-on Game of Thrones style dragon. But unfortunately you know, we have budget restraints. That’s the nature of the show. We do allude to it in Iron Fist, in a very intelligent way, and definitely in The Defenders… but I think, you know, we’ve got to be realistic.”

As much as the event might come as a disappointment in terms of visuals, it is perfectly understandable that such an appearance is not easy to get right, especially without the required budget. Therefore, as underwhelming as the decision might be, it is perfectly understandable. In any case, it will indeed be interesting to figure out how the dragon fight will be included in the story. – Lazaros

  1. This is such a shame and it’s also a shame that the show itself has received so many negative reviews 😦 great writeup though, do you feature your stuff with any other tv/movie sites at all?
