Ever since Disney announced a planned live action adaptation of their hit animated classic, “The Lion King“, speculation has run rampant regarding the film’s new cast, and the latest potential member is one that many are certainly familiar with.

Not long ago, director Jon Favreau announced Donald Glover in the lead role as Simba, and the legendary James Earl Jones would be returning to provide the voice of Mufasa. And now, it appears that Disney is considering Grammy winner Beyoncé Knowles to join the cast as Simba’s love interest, Nala.

Should Knowles choose to accept the part, it would be the singer’s first film role since lending her voice to Fox’s animated film, Epic.”

“The Lion King” remake will be directed by Jon Favreau, with a script by Jeff Nathanson. No release date is currently set.
