In an exclusive reported by The Hollywood Reporter’s Borys Kit, notable horror film director, famous for horror films such as “You’re Next” and and “Blair Witch” has been chosen to direct the highly anticipated crossover between two of the greatest cinematic icons of all time, Godzilla and King Kong.
Following the success of 2014’s “Godzilla” and the even greater success of this year’s “Kong: Skull Island,” Warner Bros is looking to create a cinematic universe about the legends of the world and their inevitable clash.
While Wingard joins a creative team including Terry Rossio (“Pirates of the Caribbean”) and J.D. Payne (“Star Trek Beyond”), it will be interesting to see how the low-budget horror film director takes a turn at a HUGE blockbuster event and if there will be any elements of horror laced within the plot which will somehow, once again, pit the two rulers of their domain against one another.
While the cast of “Godzilla vs. Kong” has not yet been revealed, Adam Wingard’s work can be seen next on Netflix as his adaptation of “The Death Note” will soon be released on the streaming platform.
