Batman and Catwoman have had an on-off relationship, switching between being friends (often more than friends) and foes. But in this week’s Batman issue, a major change comes for the two, that will wrap up in the following issue in two weeks. The following article contains spoilers for Tom King’s run on Batman (2016).
USA Today has revealed the final pages of Batman #24 and in the last page, Batman proposes to Catwoman. You can see the final pages in the slideshow below.
This decision isn’t out of place in King’s Batman run, as Bruce and Selina have been very close in previous issues. And after his meeting with his father in The Button story arc, Bruce has begun considering retirement. In fact, his father told him he need not continue his crusade against crime to honor his parents and that he should “find happiness.”
The issue doesn’t contain Catwoman’s answer, meaning fans will have to wait until Batman #25 hits shelves on June 21st. And this cliffhanger was intentional, according to King:
“I want people to go home and be like, ‘Should she marry him? Should she say yes?’ There’s a whole conversation that could come out of this.”
King also hinted at Bruce revealing a part of his history to Selina that could be a total game-changer:
“It’s like, ‘You think you know me, but you don’t know me until this.’ The actual answer will come after he reveals something he’s never revealed to anyone, and she has to decide whether that’s good or bad.”
