Plans for a TV series based in the world of the John Wick films were revealed a while back by Director Chad Stahelski and screenwriting partner Derek Kolstad. Now we know the official title of the soon to be series being developed by Lionsgate.
IndieWire has exclusively learned that the series will be title ‘The Continental’. ‘John Wick: Chapter 2’ director Chad Stahelski talks about what the show will focus on and how it’s tied to the films.
- “They’ve got a really good structure,” Stahelski said. “It’s very tied to the film [in that] it’s about the Continentals all over the world, how certain people come into that world, and what happens in relation to those people, which is cool. I think the world is very vast, and everything I’ve heard from it is very positive. […] It’s something that studio seems very, very intent on [making] and very, very behind.”
This is pretty exciting news for fans of the franchise, seeing more of the cool “assassins” world and the character surrounding it sounds very interesting. Also, although John Wick himself Keanu Reeves won’t be starring, a small appearance is likely.
- “I think he would make an appearance,” Stahelski said. “I think that’s part of his thing, [But the series] isn’t centered around John Wick.”
