Filming has begun on Season 4 of ‘THE FLASH’ and with this, a series of set photos have followed shedding some light on what we can expect when the show returns this fall.
These set photos showcase what appears to be a new villain facing of against Keiynan Lonsdales Kid Flash and Carlos Valdes Vibe. This adversary bears a striking resemblance to a Samuroid. Samuroid first appeared in The Flash in 1968 as an army of samurai robots.
In the comics, Samuroids are part of a larger army of Samuroids controlled by Baron Katana. However it is possible the Samuroids are being controlled by someone else, it has previously been reported that the villain of ‘THE FLASH’ Season 4 is Clifford Devoe, a villain who goes by the alias ‘The Thinker’. In DC Comics, Devoe has the ability of mind control, which he uses to force others into doing his bidding. However, the appearance of a Samuroid may be an indication that the TV incarnation of ‘THE FLASH’ may differentiate from the comics.
‘THE FLASH’ tends to combine elements of various villains from the comics into their adaptions, it does not require a great leap of the imagination to come to the conclusion that instead of Baron Katana controlling the Samuroid, it is Clifford Devoe. This scenario appears to be a very likely possibility as the appearance of two villains controlling others in one season would be excessive. Another point to note is the quality of the Samuroid suit, the costumes of non-recurring villains tend to be of a lower quality compared to those of recurring villains. The suit of the Samuroid appears to be much closer to the quality of a recurring villain, so it is very possible we will see a Samuroid or Samuroids throughout Season 4 of ‘THE FLASH’. If this is the case, they will most likely be controlled by Devoe considering he is the seasons main villain
‘THE FLASH SEASON 4’ will return on Tuesday October 10th at 8/7c on The CW with the first episode SDCC synopsis being:
“Running up against an evil time remnant version of yourself is something no one should ever have to do, but that’s exactly what faced Barry Allen (aka The Flash) as he fought to save the life of fiancée Iris West from the God of Speed known as Savitar. Barry’s victory was short-lived, however, as an unbalanced Speed Force began to wreak havoc on Central City, forcing Barry to sacrifice himself for the greater good. With The Fastest Man Alive now trapped inside an extra-dimensional energy, and unknown dangers lurking in the shadows, it will be up to Team Flash to free Barry from his own personal Hell.
Join cast members Grant Gustin, Jesse L. Martin, Tom Cavanagh, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes, Keiynan Lonsdale and producers of The CW’s highest-rated series at their annual Comic-Con panel, and be among the first to find out where things will pick up when season four returns this fall.”
