The upcoming Hellboy reboot has just made a new addition to its devilish cast. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ian McShane star of American Gods, has joined the film as Hellboy’s adoptive father, Professor Broom.
Reportedly aiming to begin production in September the movie will pit the titular character against “a medieval sorceress who seeks to destroy humankind.” The reboot was announced in May by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola and is tentatively titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen. Mike Richardson of Dark Horse Entertainment is on board to produce and Andrew Cosby, Christopher Golden, and Mignola have penned the film’s script. The reboot will be directed by The Descent’s Neil Marshall and will portray a darker more gruesome version of Hellboy.
