Wonder‘s screenwriter, Jack Thorne, has joined Star Wars: Episode IX as a screenwriter.
The writer is joining Episode IX‘s director, Colin Trevorrow, and another writer, Derek Connelly to work on the script. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the script is being based on previous work by Episode VIII‘s director Ryan Johnson. But Johnson recently took to Twitter to dispel that claim:

Jack Thorne’s previous work includes movies such as Wonder, The Fades, The Cast-Offs, The Last Panthers, and National Treasure, His Dark Materials, and Philip K. Dick’s Electric Sheep.
Star Wars: Episode VIII is set to release in theaters on December 15th, 2017
Star Wars: Episode IX is set to release in theaters on May 24th, 2019
