Back to the Future is truly a classic film, and has been paid homage to many times. Therefore, it’s no surprise that DC’s Legends of Tomorrow will be paying homage to the classic film in it’s third season. Brandon Routh posted a picture on his Instagram of himself in a Delorean. The Waverider is said to travel at about 88 mph, but now that there’s another time travel machine around, Rip may need to fix that. Episode 304 is the supposed episode that will feature the Delorean.
Season 3 of Legends begins October 10, so judging by the episode number (and Brandon’s Halloween hashtag); this seems like it’ll be the Halloween episode. Most likely, it will be based in the 80s. They featured George Lucas in Legends last season, so I wouldn’t be surprised if this episode features Steven Spielberg. No, he didn’t direct any of the Back to the Future films, but he was very active in the 80s.
The Delorean is the definition of nostalgia. It was the most iconic feature of Back to the Future (Marty’s shoes were second). It was Dr. Emmet Brown’s (Christopher Lloyd) time travel machine. The movie starred Micheal J. Fox as Marty McFly. Marty travels through time in the Delorean in three different films. Each time, something happens that keeps Marty in the past. He has to usually right a wrong in order to travel Back to the Future. The films “predicted” a Cubs world series in 2015 and hoverboards (both kind of came true). The trilogy was directed by Robert Zemeckis.
The Delorean company went bankrupt in 1982, when the owner was caught on drug charges. The car is a rarity as there are only 6,500 left in the world. You’d be lucky to able to find one, let alone buy it. This being featured in Legend’s of Tomorrow will be a true treat.
The post also has a hashtag #RaysMom, which means that the episode will introduce Susie Abromeit’s character, who is the mother of Ray Palmer, also known as The Atom, played by Routh. I don’t know about you guys, but I’m excited to see what this episode brings to the table! Let us know how you feel in the comments!
