William Dafoe Reveals ‘Aquaman’ Character Details

We are less than three months away for the premiere of ‘Justice League’. While anticipation is at an all- time high for the film, fans are already excited for each heroes standalone film. With ‘Aquaman’ already in production, new details are emerging for William Dafoe’s character Vulko.

ScreenCrush recently caught up with the actor to discuss his new role in Netflix’s Death Note adaption. Dafoe also gives details on his character Vulko in the upcoming films ‘Justice League’ and ‘Aquaman’. Even though Dafoe will make an appearance in ‘Justice League’ he revealed he only has a small role in the film but a much bigger role in ‘Aquaman’.

Dafoe also reveals in the interview how different his character will look from the comics

“There’s been some adjustments. Not even adjustments – it’s like anything, you use the source material and something is born from that. But I don’t really look like he does in the comic, and his role is slightly different. He is an advisor, but he’s also sort of a mentor to Aquaman.”

Vulko may be Aquaman’s advisor but he wasn’t always a loyal one. Dafoe gives some details on whether not he’s a good guy.

“I’d say so. If you want to get down to those kind of categorizations. I don’t need to, I know why people do it because we’ve got to describe things sometimes. Everybody’s a mix, [laughs] good and bad.”

Speaking of adjustments, there have been talks earlier this week how difficult shooting certain scenes, mostly underwater, was a very hard challenge. This is what Dafoe had to say on it:

“Most of my scenes are underwater. Some are not. So much of it, because we’re talking, and shooting underwater is a lot of ways impractical because you’re limited to what you can do with sets. It’s more about shooting them dry for wet, and then the effects do certain things to give the water feel. But we aren’t doing the scenes underwater, but we are in harnesses and on wires. There is movement. It’s not like were all sitting around pretending were underwater like this [stands up still], we’re swimming around, we’re moving. So that should be really beautiful.”

Beautiful indeed. I personally can’t wait to see this all put together. Tweet us what you think of the new details of Vulko and Aquaman at SuperBroMovies – Daega Pinkston
