Deadline.com today is reporting that Warner Brothers and DC, are in the early stages of a movie focusing on The Joker’s origins. Todd Phillips and Scott Silver are currently writing the movie, Philllips will also be directing and producing the film, also producing the film is Martin Scorsese. The movie will not take place in the DCEU, but instead start a new branch at Warner Brothers, to expand on the canon of DC properties, and give them new unique stories also.
The film will feature a young actor playing The Joker, in a gritty and grounded, hard-boiled, crime film set in the early 1980’s, in Gotham City. It will not feel like a DCEU movie but instead like one of the classic Scorsese films from that era. The intention of the film is to provide a new origin for The Joker, whose true origin has always been shrouded in mystery.
No additional news is available at this time regarding the cast or when the movie is expected to be released, but we at SuperBroMovies will make sure we keep you updated on any news about the film.
