The Joker and Harley Quinn spinoff film that was reportedly in development at Warner Brothers appears to be moving forward. The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’ filmmakers, Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, are tabbed to write and direct the project.
The duo is currently directing and producing episodes of the NBC drama ‘This is Us’. Their other directing credits include ‘Whiskey Tango Foxtrot’ and ‘Crazy, Stupid, Love’
The film is being described as a “criminal love story”. With it intended to be released following the sequel to ‘Suicide Squad’ which is further in development.
Margot Robbie and Jared Leto are set to reprise their roles as Harley and Joker respectively.
Deadline is now reporting that this film was intended to be ‘Gotham City Sirens’ but now that project has been scratched in favor of the Harley Quinn spinoff.
David Ayer is also reportedly out as director as Ficarra and Requa have taken over the project.
