EMPIRE has provided us with a new photo of Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) from the set of Marvel’s The Punisher, the next installment in the Marvel Netflix franchise. The photo seems to confirm flashbacks to Castle’s military background. This article contains SPOILERS for Daredevil season 2.You can see the photo below:
Before becoming the Punisher, Frank Castle served as a sniper in the USMC, associated in some way with special operations. His first appearance was in Daredevil season 2 where he slowly developed into the Punisher and they hinted at his military background through dialogue and a photo of him with other service members. After leaving the military and experiencing the brutal death of his family caught in a crossfire between gangs, Castle vowed to use his military experience and fueled rage to destroy (and punish) criminal empires.
The Punisher is likely to pick up where Castle’s story in Daredevil season 2 left off, with him finally becoming the Punisher. And the set photo seems to confirm that we’ll see flashbacks to his military experience. We don’t yet know the extent of the flashbacks.
The Punisher is set to release all 13 episodes on Netflix later this year.
A plot description is net yet available for the series.
