Guardians of the Galaxy Could Cameo in Thor: Ragnarok

Thor: Ragnarok is a little less than 2 months away, and the speculation grows each day. Today, there was a lot of promo materials released, and presale tickets are available now. We will focus on the rumors/speculation that the Guardians of the Galaxy could possibly make a cameo. With all of the Jack Kirby influences in GOTG and the Thor trailers, it all makes sense. If you’ve seen the leaked trailer for Avengers 3, then you know this is a huge possibility.

According to Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi, the Thor/Guardians scene from the trailer is not a spoiler. The theory comes from ScreenRant. They’ve been constructing this theory for some time now, and they have pretty much explained it. *THIS MAY CONTAIN POTENTIAL SPOILERS FOR THOR: RAGNAROK, IF YOU DO NOT WANT ANY FORM OF A SPOILER…. TURN AWAY NOW*

There was some concept art for Thor: Ragnarok includes the Guardians spaceship, the Milano. ScreenRant asked Thor: Ragnarok producer Brad Winderbaum about the concept art, and whether it was just a shared design or something more. His response avoided any spoilers, if that’s how you interpret what he’s saying:

“We’re definitely leaning into Jack [Kirby] more heavily than Guardians. There are elements of Guardians that will work their way into our film, both stylistically and narratively. In the sense that, like all the Earthbound heroes feel like they’re living and breathing in the same air, certainly now that we’re in space it feels, in a very MCU way, that we’re living and breathing in the same air.”

The theory comes from the concept art and set of Thor: Ragnarok. The question is, what is the Milano doing on set of Thor: Ragnorok if the Guardians have it in Infinity War? The last time we saw the Milano it was on the planet Berhert in the forest, right before the Ravagers captured the rest of the crew. The Milano being on the set means that the films are tied through this spaceship. Also, Mr. Winderbaum states that the films and characters in the cosmic universe are “living and breathing in the same air.” These characters in outer space are all on the same playing field, just as the Earthbound heroes are.

The Milano is a precious cargo. It is worth something as it is the transportation the Guardians use in the cosmos. The Grandmaster could possibly have it on one of Sakaar’s scrapyards. The Guardians retrieving it themselves would be an awesome cameo for them to have in the film. Marvel has revealed most of the characters we will see in Thor: Ragnarok, but hopefully not all. The fact that the Guardians did not have the ship when we last saw them, and they have it in the Infinity War trailer should be enough evidence. Sadly, it is not enough evidence though. Between the concept art, set, and Jack Kirby influences… It is all more than a set thing that the Guardians will hopefully appear.

This is all definitely just speculation, but it makes the most sense. This would also explain the first scene from the Infinity War trailer. The Guardians find their ship at the end of the movie or post credits, blow up Sakaar, and send Thor flying not even knowing what they caused. Then, we get the first scene of the Infinity War trailer. I doubt they actually see each other in the film, given Rocket’s response to Thor hitting the Milano shield. Again, it’s all speculation.

What do you guys think? Will Thor: Ragnarok feature the Guardians? Leave comments and let us know!
