In the comics, Superman dies at the hands of Doomsday and then returns “from the dead” with a black suit. Ever since Superman’s death in Batman v Superman, fans have been speculating that the Man of Steel would return in Justice League with a black suit, just like the comics. We’ve had a couple clues pointing to this, but we may have our first concrete evidence that we will see the fan favorite black suit. We may also have confirmation of how he gets resurrected.
*POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR SUPERMAN’S RESURRECTION AND RETURN*
The Comic Book merchandise website SuperHeroStuff has an exclusive hat for Justice League which features a silver Superman emblem on a black background. The description of the hat seemingly confirms that Superman will return with the black suit, and it also reveals how he is resurrected.
In 1993, Superman died. Later that year, Superman returned.
Our Superman Black Armor Justice League 39Thirty Fitted Hat is based on Superman’s costume post-death:
A black variation of the Superman suit adorned during his time in the regeneration matrix, a Kryptonian chamber that reversed the previously lethal effects of his protracted punch-em-up with Doomsday.
In the film Justice League, it seems Superman’s cinematic resurrection will parallel the hit comic story, considering he returns in a stylish black costume soon after a very tense fight with Doomsday.
If true, Superman will return in Justice League after a time in a Kryptonian regeneration chamber and with a black suit. There is always reason to doubt, though. Companies will always make variations on merchandise that never appear it into the film. We’ll just have to wait until November to see if Superman’s makes a darker return, or perhaps they will unveil it in the next trailer.
