Thor Ragnarok will be introducing another female superhero into the MCU with Tessa Thompson playing Valkyrie but that might only be a step to something bigger if Thompson has her way. In an interview for a press junket for the new Thor film Thompson expressed interested for an all female Marvel movie with Marvel’s Head Kevin Feige agreeing with her.
During the press junket Thompson had the following to say.
“Recently I marched up with a couple of other women who work in Marvel and [asked Kevin] “How about a movie with some female superheroes? Like all of them.”
Kevin Feige also chimed into the conversation about an all female Marvel film with the following.
“It was a pretty amazing moment to be somewhere and have your shoulder be taped and turn around find every female hero we have is standing there going, ‘How about it?’ And I said ‘yes.’”
During the interview Feige was about a Valkyrie solo movie which he said was a pretty good idea. Tessa Thompson also talked about how an all female team has happened in the comics with the Lady Liberators in which Feige seemed impressed and commented how it was a deep cut from the comics to bring the Liberators up. Marvel has its first female movie coming in 2019 with Captain Marvel but has already introduced other female superheroes but only in other male heroes or team up movies.
