John Boyega Teases Possibility of Relationship between Finn and Poe in ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’

Fans, for years, have been clamoring for the Star Wars movies to tackle real world topics, including the involvement of LGBTQ characters. In an interview with Metro, ‘Star War: The Last Jedi’ star John Boyega talked about the film taking on the responsibility of telling those stories:

“There definitely is that responsibility, but more the responsibility to hire those from those experiences to share their creative light, that’s the pivotal thing. Because if you just hire the same sort of people you’re just getting the same sort of film. It’s not wrong, but then there’s a lack of variety.”

Ever since ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, fans have been pushing for the possibility of Boyega’s Finn being romantically involved with Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron. Boyega touched bases on the topic and believes that Poe needs make the decision:

“I think that Oscar is always looking at me with love in his eyes, and I guess that the fans saw it. And then they realized that either he needs to chill or come out.”

rey, finn and poe

I thought when Finn first meets Daisy Ridley’s Rey on Jakku, Finn tried to create a connection with Rey and was working on that. I never thought of the potential connection between Finn and Poe, but Star Wars fans are a force when it comes to creating theories into existence. It makes sense that Boyega says that Poe must make the move if he feels there is something between them as Finn is possibly unaware of it. Who knows what will happen in December when ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ comes out in theaters.

‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’ comes out in theaters December 14th.
