Seems like Ben Affleck’s future in the DC universe may be coming to an end closer than previously thought. Although he’s still not sure about if he’s 100% doing the upcoming solo film, he still wants to find a way to smoothly transition out of it at some point.
While being interviewed by USA Today, Affleck revealed that his involvement in Matt Reeves’ The Batman is “something I’m contemplating.” He then goes on to say the following about his role in the DC film universe as the Dark Knight.
“You don’t do it forever, so I want to find a graceful and cool way to segue out of it.”
He’s somewhat unsure about when he will give up wearing the cowl, but it seems like he wants to find a smooth way out whenever that happens. What is making him rethink everything is unclear, but it can be assumed that he is probably wary of how old he will be when he the upcoming films would be. Director Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes) is planing a Bat trilogy set in the DCEU, which is a lot of a time and effort a person has to commit.
Whether or not he won’t be starring the in solo film remains to be seen, but I wouldn’t be extremely surprised if Affleck left early. That’s not most of the fans’ desire though, as I’m sure we all want to see more of him as Bruce Wayne/Batman in more films.
