After the extreme success of Wonder Woman, a sequel was announced shortly after with both director Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot set to return. There hasn’t been a lot of news about the upcoming film recently, but there’s one that caught the attention of fans from all over the world.
In a recent report, it was claimed that Gal Gadot has chosen not to return to the sequel of the popular comic book film if producer Brett Ratner was involved. Ratner has had multiple sexual misconduct allegations against him, which prompted Warner Bros. to get rid of his name for their projects. The company breaking up the deal with Ratner’s RatPac Entertainment was in the plans, but a lot of fans and other artists applauded the stance Gadot was taking with the film.
ET recently caught up with Jenkins and Gadot to ask them about their thoughts on the whole situation with Brett Ratner and Wonder Woman 2.
Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins addressed the news about Ratner leaving the sequel.
“That whole thing happened weeks ago, so that actually had nothing to do with Gal. That was a foregone conclusion, I think. I was surprised by that story.”
Gal Gadot was also asked about Brett Ratner, revealing how she feels about the whole situation.
“Look, there’s been a lot written about how I feel and my views about this topic, and everyone knows how I feel about it. And the truth is there are so many people involved with making this movie, and they all have echoed the same sentiments.”
I strongly believe that WB. getting rid of Ratner asap was the correct choice, and I’m very happy that we have a strong actress who not only plays Wonder Woman, but chooses to make the type of decision that her character would make. Taking a strong stance in this serious situation is very admirable, and I’m now even more excited for Wonder Woman 2.
You can catch Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman in Justice League in theaters this week.
Justice League unites its way into theaters November 17, 2017.
