Justice League hit theaters today, and the response among critics and fans are beyond mixed. There are many complaints, but far more loving qualities. Hearing that Superman’s trilogy arc is complete leads to one question… “When will Man of Steel 2 be ready?”
Well, according to Charles Roven, don’t expect a sequel to Man of Steel anytime soon. In an interview with The Washington Times, Roven said:
The Superman sequel “Man of Steel 2” also isn’t coming anytime soon, if at all. There’s no script but “various story ideas” are being kicked around.
Now, this creates curiosity for Superman fans. This also creates speculation as to where the DCEU is headed. As many of us know, Matthew Vaughn (Kingsman: The Secret Service, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, Kick Ass 2) was rumored to be directing the sequel to Man of Steel.
The keywords in this quote are “if at all” and “various story ideas being kicked around.” From a journalist perspective it seems as though the movie has a chance, but context clues say it may not. If at all, could just be the writer adding their own words to the article or a direct quote. As a die hard ‘Man of Steel‘ fan, I’m taking the latter. The “various story ideas being kicked around” sounds more likely that we’ll get the sequel. DC has movies slated up until 2020, so anything is truly possible. No, there is currently no script for Man of Steel 2, but there is a really good director attached in Vaughn. There is also the possibility of Justice League doing amazing in theaters, and there for boosting our chances of getting the sequel sooner. I’m sure if the fans love the movie, and the direction Superman heads in; DC/WB will get a sequel to MOS out sooner! What do you guys think? Do you think we’ll get a sequel to ‘Man of Steel‘? Let us know, tweet us @SuperBroMovies!
