‘DEADPOOL 2’ May Now Be Called ‘UNTITLED DEADPOOL SEQUEL’

With the release of the teaser trailer for Deadpool 2, fans were able to catch a glimpse of the latest adventure with the Merc with the Mouth. In addition to the trailer’s release, it was revealed that the film would no longer bear the title of Deadpool 2. Due to Fox’s official synopsis, it has become clear that it may now be under the title of Untitled Deadpool Sequel.

Based on the current title, the filmmakers are still deciding whether this will be used officially. Although some correctly guessed that Deadpool 2 was actually a placeholder, the new title of Untitled Deadpool Sequel is somehow more evocative of a placeholder title than Deadpool 2 was. However, it is likely that this title was chosen because it fits better with the tongue-in-cheek nature of the Deadpool character.

Given that this film has gone through several working titles, it is unclear if Untitled Deadpool Sequel will remain as the official title. It is also ambiguous whether an entirely different one will take its place. It would not be surprising, though, if it kept its new title as Deadpool is prone to making meta-jokes on a regular basis. For the time being, it is now a matter of waiting for the filmmakers to commit to a given title.
