Zack Snyder is no stranger to making a cameo here and there in the DCEU (most recently in Wonder Woman), it seems like he has continued the trend with his latest film Justice League.
In an interview with ComicFilms M.D., Justice League cinematographer Fabian Wagner revealed that although he wasn’t able to make a cameo of his own, director Zack Snyder was. The folks at ComicFilms M.D. first asked Wagner what his cameo would be if he had one and he said he would probably make himself Batman for a single shot.
“I’ve never thought about it. (thinks). But I should have gotten into the bat suit like on a wide shot when he’s just in the background.”
If that were to happen, he would be serious cameo points for going as far as wearing the Batsuit on the big screen even if it’s just for one shot. Snyder had simpler idea in mind when it came to a cameo, as he’s only in the background for one scene. Although Wagner doesn’t go into specifics, he reveals that Snyder can be seen in the film sitting down in a cafe
“Zack had a cameo in one of the shots, he’s sitting in a cafe. To fill it out.”
Exactly which scene this is from isn’t clear, but my best guess is that he’s in the opening montage of the film as I’m pretty sure there was a cafe present in that montage. Either way, I’m sure this will have some fans looking all over the screen when they see it again.
Snyder making a cameo in his own film isn’t new, as he also made a very small appearance in Batman v. Superman in a shot that has Bruce Wayne reaching for a phone. The hand shown isn’t actually Affleck’s, but instead the director himself. He seems to only cameo in his own films when necessary, probably saving money in the process. It’s a pretty smart excuse though to appear in your own film thought if you ask me.
