The writer for the acclaimed Dark Knight trilogy, David S. Goyer, is in talks to direct a Masters of the Universe film for Sony.
According to a report by TheWrap, Goyer has written the most recent draft of the script and the studio has set a release date of December 18, 2019.
Masters of the Universe is set on the planet Eternia, and is focused on Prince Adam who transforms into the hero He-Man and battles Skeletor, a villain intent on conquering Castle Greyskull.
The film will be produced by Escape Artists principals Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch. Mattel will be involved with the movie with its executives Julia Pistor and David Voss serving as executive producers on behalf of the company. Sony executives Hannah Minghella and DeVon Franklin will be overseeing the project for the studio.
