Since Stranger Things debuted on Netflix in 2016, it has become one of the streaming service’s most popular shows, alongside the likes of House of Cards. From its first season alone, it has earned 18 Emmy nominations and five wins. Given the show’s 94% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and strong viewership, demand for the series to be renewed has increased. Netflix has since responded by announcing that the show has been officially renewed for a third season.
The main cast is expected to return for this third season. This means that this season will feature series regulars such as Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Noah Schnapp, Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton. In addition, notable cast members that were introduced in Season 2 such as Sadie Sink and Dacre Montgomery are set to return as well.
As for the crew members, Matt and Ross Duffer remain as the show’s directors. Dan Cohen, Iain Patterson and Shawn Levy will also remain as executive producers alongside the Duffers.
No release date has been confirmed for Season 3 as of yet and the story is still in development. For now, fans will have to wait to see what this season will be about.
