Captain Marvel is already on track to introduce Jude Law (who will play Mar-Vell), the Skrulls, the 90’s, and a young Nick Fury to the MCU but could another well known fan favorite straight from the pages of Marvel Comics be making his long awaited debut in the first MCU film starring a standalone female hero?

Our friends over at The Hashtag Show have come across a some information that may point to Rick Jones joining the Brie Larson-lead film. While it is already known that Jude Law will be appearing in the film as Dr. Walter Lawson AKA Mar-Vell ans serving as a mentor to Larson’s Carol Danvers, Marvel Studios are also looking for a supporting male lead who may help with some of the  heavy lifting for the highly anticipated MCU inclusion:

[UNKNOWN MALESupporting Lead Male (35-59) Intelligent, but can throw a punch. Open ethnicity. Sounds like he may be tied to a well-known character.

This is extremely ambiguous and not much to go on but lets break this down a bit.

Rick Jones is a character who has been directly tied to Bruce Banner, who tried to save Jones from going into the same gamma bomb which afflicted Bruce with his Hulk Powers, and Steve Rogers in the comics, he’s been known to hold his own against both the Kree and the Skrulls, and is an asset to any team he is assisting with his great intelligence and quick wit.

Rick Jones also played a HUGE role in ending the Kree-Skrull war in the comics. This conflict is going to serve as the backdrop for Captain Marvel. Here he is under the boot of Ronan The Accuser:
