A casting call from the upcoming Titans may be teasing the inclusion of an iconic DC Comics hero that has yet to be seen in live-action. The character breakdown brought to us by The Hashtag Show is calling for a female actress who is “confident and kick ass”. Here is the full breakdown:
[RUTH GIBBS]Female, 20s, Caucasian or Latina or Middle Eastern, or ethnically ambiguous. Confident and kick ass. Educated. RECURRING GUEST STAR THIS SEASON WITH AN OPTION FOR SERIES REGULAR NEXT SEASON.
Thought the breakdown doesn’t name a character specifically, reading in between the lines, something our friends at THS already did, would lead most to believe that Titans is casting the role of Donna Troy, aka Wonder Girl.
Donna Troy first appeared all the way back in 1965 in an issue of The Brave and the Bold. She was introduced as a “family friendly” version of Wonder Woman following the controversy of Seduction of the Innocent, something you should really Google, it’s fascinating.
Troy went on to become a staple of DC Comics. Appearing in countless titles over the years and having some significant appearances in DC Animation, including Teen Titans: The Judas Contract. A different version of the character appeared in Young Justice.
The most significant part of Troy’s comic backstory is that she was a long-time member of the Teen Titans. Which makes it no surprise that she will be appearing in the live-action television series. –Jackson Hayes
