Disney Is Open To R-Rated Films; Bob Iger Encourages More ‘DEADPOOL’ Films

Well it’s finally here. Disney has officially announced they will be purchasing many of Fox’s assets for roughly $52 billion dollars. For many this is the news they have been waiting years to hear, the X-Men and Fantastic Four are coming home to the Marvel universe. However, not everyone is excited about the news as they feel it will be the end of more adult films such as the highly successful Deadpool franchise.

But based on recent reports these fears are unnecessary as it seems Disney is all for encouraging the production of R-rated films and has sourced Deadpool as one of the reasons why.

According to Ben Fritz of The Wall Street Journal, Bob Iger stated Disney is all for producing more Deadpool sequels and that there may be a place for R-rated films in the company.

With such wide-spread success it would make no sense for Disney to stop creating such films as Deadpool as it wouldn’t be in their best interest.

It is very interesting to note that Iger also stated Disney is open to R-rated films as this opens a whole new world of possibilities for not just Marvel studios but for the company as a whole.
