It is always a hope of fans that they will one day get to see their favorite heroes appear on-screen. And for many the CW’s Arrowverse has been the place to go to see DC’s iconic characters in live action. But sadly Marc Guggenheim has now confirmed that Arrow will not feature any future appearances from characters featured in the Justice League.
This year the series piqued the interest of many fans when it included a name drop from Oliver Queen that confirmed the existence of Bruce Wayne in the Arrowverse. A large number of fans thought this may be a teaser for a future appearance from Wayne’s alter ego Batman. But sadly Guggenheim has stated that this was only an easter egg, nothing more. In an exclusive with Comicbook.com, Guggenheim said,
“No, I love a good Easter egg, and I love doing the occasional name drop. You know, we name-dropped Hal Jordan at the beginning of Season 3, but it’s really just fun for us. I think in the Arrowverse we have our own Justice League and the Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Batman … these are all characters that are either spoken for on the movie side and/or other shows. There’s a Bruce Wayne on Gotham.”
He went on to say that easter eggs such as this are nothing more than fanboy mischief.
“Over here on the CW, we’re sort of a mischievous lot, and we enjoy the occasional Easter egg. And our partners at DC are very tolerant of our mischief. But that’s really all it is. Just good nature, good fanboy mischief.”
It’s a shame we will never get to see the Emerald Archer team up with the Dark Knight, but perhaps its better to keep some characters reserved for the silver screen.
