Variety has revealed that the upcoming SOLO: A Star Wars Story film will see the return of John Williams for the theme.

John Powell will remain the primary composer, working on the score, however.

Williams composed the score for all 8 Star Wars saga films (Episodes I-VIII). Rogue One was the first Star Wars film to not feature Williams.

John Powell has composed for several animated movies such as Happy Feet, How to Train Your Dragon, Kung Fu Panda, and Shrek. He also has worked on Jason Bourne films and X-Men: The Last Stand.

Williams supports the choice of Powell as composer:

John Powell is going to write the score, which he’ll do brilliantly. His assignment is something I’m very happy about.

SOLO– An upcoming American space Western film centered on Han Solo, a character from the Star Wars franchise.

SOLO is set to release in theaters on May 25, 2018.
