First Look at ‘SOLO’ Lego Sets Surface Online; Likely Confirms New MILLENNIUM FALCON And KESSEL RUN

Solo: A Star Wars Story is set to release in late May this year and yet we still have not even received a teaser trailer. Most thought that it was set to be attached to The Last Jedi, but maybe Lucasfilm and Disney did not want to shift away too much of the Star Wars focus. The teaser will surely arrive soon, but something else has risen in the meantime to occupy the fan’s patient mind. Lego always seems to knock it out of the park with their sets that accompany large tent pole films. Whether it is a Marvel, DC, or Star Wars film- Lego always has a lineup of sets ready to occupy your living room space. Like any other popular toy line, photos and product information more than often tends to find its way online before the expected release. This has now happened with Solo and unfortunately, all we have is low-resolution photos.

Five sets have miraculously sprung from the depths of the internet and offer cool insight into the film. The following pictures might offer mild SPOILERS so beware. We can never tell how accurate some lego sets are prior to a film’s release.

Check out the images for the sets below, along with some descriptions:

Let’s first talk about what appears to be some sort of new stormtrooper speeder. Along with the new speeder design comes a new trooper design as well. These new troopers seem to feature thicker black linings on their suits Like the Scarif troopers in Rogue One, there is sure to be a fine reason why these specific troopers have yet to be seen in the saga. We have also not seen a speeder as bulky like this for imperial forces before. Imperial officers can also be seen in the background of the box art.

Next up let’s discuss the set with a new speeder like vehicle, but one that is not driven by imperial forces. Two new characters are also featured in the set. It is very hard to tell if these characters align themselves with the rebels or not. My guess is that they are workers of some sort because of the tool like objects they can be seen holding in the box art. Also featured is a new pale white dog-like creature. The resolution is too low to even try to guess what their name says. One thing is for sure, It looks like you might want to pet a vulptex from The Last Jedi instead of these mean looking things.

This set features Han Solo and I am assuming Emilia Clarke’s character? If it is not Clarke then it could be Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s character. The new speeder featured here is a more sleek and cooler design. Maybe this vehicle is not designed for battle at all? One of those pale white creatures is also included in this set meaning that the previously described set can also take place on the same planet. Could this be Kessel or Corellia?

The biggest reveal is the Millennium Falcon set, the iconic ship is seen here in a much younger state. There are plenty of fresh blue paint marks all over the ship. This certainly implies the ship’s rough history by the time we first meet it in A New Hope. Solo, Chewbacca, and an array of characters are included in this set. Again, the resolution is too low to try to guess who some of the others are. The name of the set can be read as “Kessel Run Millennium Falcon”. This could be a glimpse of what will finally be seen from that historic run. One last thing to point out is that the ship is not sporting the signature fork like gap in the front. It seems like the ship may be in its complete form.  What is that piece and why has it been missing from the entire saga?

Finally, we have a set that features a large classic tie fighter. From the looks of it, there is nothing new to this model. The low resolution may prove me wrong, but there seems to be nothing much new here. One of the droids in the character list on the bottom of the box art does seem like a new design. Maybe a tie fighter repair droid of some sorts?

The box art for all sets does feature the leaked photo that surfaced last week. Disney made an official statement that the photo is fake, but box art may not be finalized for these sets. The photos of the sets themselves do not look as if they were manufactured by people other than Lego themselves. With the film’s release date being so close- it might not be that long until we have full resolution photos of these and possibly more lego sets. In the meantime, we should be anticipating the first teaser anytime between now and the next month or so.
