Matt Reeves Gives An Update On The Status Of His ‘THE BATMAN’ Script

As we continue to watch the will they or won’t they dance that Warner Bros. has with Batman actor Ben Affleck, the one thing we can hang our heads high about is that Matt Reeves is hard at work on the script for The Batman.

The War for the Planet of the Apes director gave an update on where he’s at in the writing process while talking on The Q&A Podcast with Jeff Goldsmith:

“…I am outlining; I have the story worked out and I am outlining.”

The film has a reported 2020 release date which means it could be looking to start filming in the near future. Meaning that Reeves might not have a long period of time to finish the script.

It’s still unknown who will star as the titular hero but at this point, it’s an unnecessary quantity for Reeves. Rumors began swirling that Reeves wanted Jake Gylennenhal to take over the cowl for Affleck but that’s still unconfirmed at this point. Jon Hamm also threw his hat in the ring and is reportedly campaigning for the role but with the status of Affleck still up in the air, it’s unlikely we’ll get any concrete news for some time.
