After being in development for a long time, it seems like Sony’s adaption of the Valiant comic series Bloodshot is finally getting more traction as the studio is searching for it’s lead. Mega-blockbuster star Vin Diesel is reportedly in talks to join the comic adaptation.
If he were to join he would be reuniting with Fast and Furious Neal Moritz, so Diesel’s involvement here makes a lot of sense. Taking the helm of the film will be David Wilson (known for his visual effects work with Blur Studio), with a screenplay from Eric Heisserer (Arrival). This would be Vin Diesel’s third cinematic universe as Sony is planning to launch a five-film shared universe the Valiant comic books Harbinger and Bloodshot.
For those unfamiliar with the property, Bloodshot is about a super-soldier project that brought a dead soldier back to life using nano-technology. Using various newly obtained powers, the undead soldier fights for vengeance against those who made him this way. The story is quite fascinating and I think it will make for an engaging film once it hits the big screen. Diesel starring in another franchise is a bit much, but if he’s the right fit then why not.
