With only one movie, Liam Neeson’s Qui-Gon Jinn quickly became a fan favorite, and he’s arguably the best part of The Phantom Menace, which is where he met his fate. At the end of Revenge of the Sith, there were hints of that character still living as a force ghost, but Neeson has yet to return to the Star Wars universe. With an Obi-Wan Kenobi movie on the horizon, though, there is a chance for that character coming back.
Liam Neeson was asked by Yahoo Movies in an interview whether he had discussed the possibility of reprising his role as Qui-Gon Jinn in one of the new films. He responded,
“This is the first time I’m hearing of this. No one’s been in touch with me. I know in the Star Wars world anything is possible. In the first one, The Phantom Menace, I died but we know, you know, Jedis come back and stuff but no one’s been in touch. We’ll see.”
This certainly doesn’t leave much up for interpretation, but there’s still hopes that Disney could contact him. Liam Neeson teamed up with Ewan McGregor on screen again would be amazing to see, and it’s something fans have been hoping for for a long time.
If the solo Kenobi film does take place on Tatooine in between Episodes 3 and 4 like many are speculating, then Qui-Gon could reach out to Obi-Wan as a force ghost and give him guidance.
The solo Kenobi film is one of the most anticipated Star Wars films in the coming years, so hopefully Disney makes the right moves to make it as good as possible.
