It has just been reported by Variety that the directors of Vacation, John Francis Daley, and Jonathon Goldstein, are in talks to direct Flashpoint, the standalone Flash film starring Ezra Miller.
It was also revealed that Warner Bros. initially courted Ben Affleck to direct the film but he passed on the project. Based on the choice of Daley and Goldstein the studio is eyeing to give the film a comedic tone, which based on the duo’s past films Vacation and the upcoming Game Night this will be right up their alley. This is not, however, their first foray into the comic book world as they penned the script for the hit Spider-Man: Homecoming.
The studio has taken their time on the project looking for the perfect director after Rick Famuyiwas stepped away and the film has recently undergone a complete rewrite from Joby Harold. This news also comes on the heels of the recent announcement that DC films would be undergoing some shuffling with New Line executive Walter Hamada taking over the film division. We should also note that Warner Bros. has not commented as of yet so we will have to wait for an official announcement.
