For fans of Alan Moore’s seminal Watchmen 2018 is going to be a great year. HBO and Damon Lindelof have announced they are creating a television show based on the property. The last time Watchmen was adapted into a live-action property was for Zach Snyder’s 2009 movie. It is unknown if the series will have anything to do with the film but one of the film’s stars has already expressed interest in reprising his role.
Patrick Wilson, who played Nite Owl in the film, recently mentioned in an interview with Yahoo Movies he was interested in appearing in the show,
“It was such a joy shooting that movie, I wanted there to be more of them, I’ve wanted to play Dan again. I certainly think we’re all more age appropriate now!”
However, Wilson has not received any calls from Lindelof or HBO,
“There’s never been one conversation, I’m sure they want to stay as far away from us as possible but I love Damon Lindelof I’m so excited to see what they will do. I’d love to play [Dan] now but no there’s been no talk, I’m just a fan like you are.”
So while Wilson would like to return as Nite Owl, the odds of this occuring seem very slim. Thankfully though we will get to see Wilson take on a more villainous role as Ocean Master, the evil brother of Aquaman in the upcoming DC film, Aquaman.
