Shaquille O’Neal recently told Entertainment Weekly that he would like to have a role in an Avengers movie.

The basketball Hall of Famer and minor actor said his interest is related to Robert Downey, Jr.:

I would love to be in one of the Avengers movies. I would like to kick Robert Downey Jr.’s ass.

O’Neal starred in a superhero movie before: the 1997 DC Comics movie named Steel. The movie is not well-known, nor is it well-regarded and you can see for yourself why that may be:

Steel is also one of the first superhero films with a black lead, coming out just before Blade (1998). O’Neal also discussed Steel:

It was an awesome opportunity. However, I’d like to redo it and get some of these 2018 special effects.

O’Neal’s size could lend itself to some interesting castings for a future Marvel movie. With Disney having bought Fox, Marvel now has full control back over the X-Men and Fantastic 4, allowing for more opportunities for O’Neal to be cast.

One character who comes to mind is the Juggernaut (previously played by Vinnie Jones). The Juggernaut is a supervillain whose hatred for Charles Xavier and the X-Men is rivaled only by his strength. The Juggernaut is a villain who literally serves as an unstoppable force in the Marvel universe.

O’Neal could also play the Thing/Ben Grimm, a member of the Fantastic 4. Grimm transformed into the Thing after Reed Richards’ hubris lead to a failed experiment. Grimm developed super strength and invulnerability but changed drastically in his looks.

Though the Juggernaut is usually an X-Men villain and the Thing is usually fighting alongside Iron Man, not against him, if O’Neal does get cast for a Marvel character and really wants to punch RDJ, I am sure it could get worked into the script.
