‘AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR’ Director Weighs In On If Captain America Will Be Nomad In The Film

With the return of the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes drawing closer with the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War many fans are still curious whether Captain America will become Nomad in the film. We have had many teases from Sebastian Stan and Chris Evans concerning the change but we have official word from Joe Russo, one of the film’s directors, who has put the rumor to rest. According to an interview, Russo did in October with Fantasy Focus Football he already put the rumor to rest when he discussed Nomad and Steve Roger’s larger arc. Russo said,

“Our approach to [Steve Rogers] was to deconstruct him, to take him in a different direction. Obviously you can’t deal with a character called Captain America without dealing with the thematics behind that, so we wanted a relevancy to it and we wanted to put him in a position where he was questioning the chain of command.

“You’ll see into these Avenger films, he’s is on a very specific journey as a character. Some people have suspected that he may be Nomad heading into Avengers 3 and I wouldn’t say that he is exactly Nomad, but he is the spirit of that character.“

So what this means is that Steve Rogers is not Nomad, rather he has the spirit of Nomad. We won’t see Cap take on a new identity but he may no longer explicitly be Captain America still. Roger’s will be in a new state of mind as he has grown to distrust the government he once represented. So only time will tell how this new Roger’s will act given his new nomadic spirit if you will.
