Kid Flash Is Officially Joining ‘LEGENDS OF TOMORROW’ As A Series Regular

It has just been announced that Keiynan Lonsdale will be joining the crew of the Wave Rider as a series regular. Following the departure of Firestorm from the show Kid Flash will take his place among the show’s roster of heroes. This has long been rumored that Kid Flash would join Legends of Tomorrow after many comments from the cast and executives of the show at the CW, but now it has been officially confirmed.

Ever since Barry Allen returned from the Speed Force Wally West has felt estranged from Team Flash and has been MIA for most of the season. And surprisingly Wally will reportedly not return to The Flash before he joins Legends in episode 11, where he will officially join them in episode 13. Wally West had previously worked with the Legends in their season 3 premiere and it seems with is where the idea of him joining full time came from.

Executive producer Phil Klemmer explained the reasoning behind the change for the character in an official statement,

“We loved working with Keiynan in our series premiere — the episode in which we learned that in between seasons 2 and 3 he had been fighting crime in Central City with Nick Zano’s Nate Heywood. So when his character stepped away from Flash to go on walkabout, after being dumped and feeling somewhat estranged from his family and team, we knew that Wally West would fit in perfectly on Legends. After all, our show is about a collection of unlikely heroes who all began their journeys questioning who they are and where they belong — only to find those answers while traveling through time and having wacky adventures. So now, Wally West is not only back in the company of old friends from the Arrowverse, he’s fighting alongside a former enemy and career arsonist Mick Rory/Dom Purcell. By the end of this season, Wally will learn that the Legends have a different definition of what it means to be a hero.”

There is no doubt this change will mean a shift in the character as he may come into his own right since he is no longer in the shadow of Barry Allen per say. It will be interesting to see how the show goes about adding Kid Flash to the roster and how Team Flash will react to the news. But for now, we will have to wait and see how this will all go down when Legends of Tomorrow returns.
