Marvel’s next live-action series has an official premier date.
Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger will hit Freeform on June 7, 2018. The show will air weekly on Thursdays at 8 p.m. following its special two-hour premiere. The show focuses on Tandy Bowen (Olivia Holt) and Tyrone Johnson (Aubrey Joseph), two runaway teenagers who discover they have strange superpowers that are linked to each other. The show was previously said to be airing in Winter, so this is a bit of a delay. But having just wrapped in November of last year, a January or February start might have been too much to ask of the superhero show.
Accompanying the premiere announcement is our first official clip from the show. The sneak preview shows Tandy and Tyrone meeting for what seems like the first time, and discovering their powers in the process.
The clip features some obvious deviations from the source material, with the pair having their powers before meeting as teenagers. However, promotional material has included Roxxon Corp, an organization that exists in the MCU and is responsible for giving Cloak and Dagger their powers in the Ultimate Spider-Man comics. Tyrone also lacks his stutter, a key feature of his character before he gained his powers. So it seems the show might be taking more inspiration from the Ultimates comics, which makes sense. The show promises to be a superhero romance, which is exactly what the duo was in the Ultimate Universe.

“The story of two teenagers from very different backgrounds, who find themselves burdened and awakened to newly acquired superpowers which are mysteriously linked to one another. Tandy can emit light daggers and Tyrone has the ability to engulf others in darkness. They quickly learn they are better together than apart, but their feelings for each other make their already complicated world even more challenging.”
