We’ve recently received confirmation that the 2019 sequel to Spider-man: Homecoming will begin production this Spring with principal photogra[hy in either Germany or the UK according to recent reports. Well, now we may have information on a new addition to the cast of the film. It was previously rumored the sequel is looking to cast Gwen Stacy well it seems they may also be casting a “femme fatale” for the film.
According to That Hashtag Show, they have word from an official source at Marvel Studios that they are looking to cast a European actress in her 20’s to play a “femme fatale”. As of now, there is no official word on who the female character will but we can start to make some guesses based on Spider-Man’s history of femme fatales.
The most likely character would be Felicia Hardy A.K.A. Black Cat. The character and Spider-Man have had an interesting relationship in the comics that would be interesting to see explored on screen. However, this would be rather confusing as Black Cat is set to appear in Sony’s Silver and Black which is supposed to be its own universe separate from the MCU. There have been rumors that the Sony films will be linked in some way to the Marvel universe so introducing Black Cat could be an interesting way of doing this.
Going off the topic of Silver and Black we could also see the femme fatale in the film be Silver Sable. Silver Sable is not as close to Spidey as is Black Cat, but the European location would make more sense for her. And the same logic about a linked Sony films universe and MCU could also apply to Silver Sable as we mentioned for Black Cat.
There are a number of other characters that could appear in the sequel but these two seem to make the most sense based on what we know. However, as of now, there has been no official word from Marvel confirming this report so we should take this report with a grain of salt. Still, it would be very interesting to see the Spider-Man: Homecoming sequel introduce both Gwen Stacy and a classic femme fatale.
