The Flash S4Ep11 “The Elongated Man Rises” Recap/Review

Well.. this season has been a doozy to say the very least. From Barry being accused (and convicted of murder) to the apparent rising of The elongated Man (a DC hero who made his comic book debut back in the 60s) to the mystery surrounding the woman with a lot of pep who many fans believe to be the daughter of Barry and and Iris from the future.

PLUS, Former WCW, WWE World Heavyweight, Universal, and future 2018 WWE Hall of Famer Bill Goldberg makes a badass cameo appearance.

Las week, Barry Allen was convicted of first degree murder of DeVoe (who actually transplanted his mind into the Body of a much younger and more handsome man with the ability to read minds. Instead of using his super speed to escape capture and spent rest of his life running, Barry, being the good noodle that he is, is going to serve his sentence just like his father before him.

While in prison, Barry watches the clock eagerly and awaits the arrival of his wife Iris, He gets into a kerfuffle with fellow inmates . These inmates take things to the next level and Barry is saved by GOLDBERG himself.

Meanwhile, Ralhp Dibny has stepped up to the plate to be the new hero  of Central City. He is faced with the immediate threat of The Trickster and his mother, played by Corinne Boher whoo played Prank in the original Flash TV series in the 90s. This is an amazing nod to the original live-action series which also touts MArk Hamill’s original incarnation of the Trickster. So while Hamill is basking in all of the glory (controversy) of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, we are still getting his legacy through his family and that is some amazing storytelling, my friends.

Goldberg, who is following in the footsteps of Edge and Cody Rhodes as WWE Superstars who find success outside of the organization in the Arrowverse, steps in as the father figure Barry is desperately searching for. He explains his relationship with Barry’s dad Henry, where Henry saved Goldberg’s life as an emergency appendectomy was needed in the Iron Heights prison. This gives Barry a new lease on life as he is able to save Goldberg from a prison mugging and uses his abilities to avoided the camera catching his moves to break up the fight.

Barry has been a typical boy-in-search-of-of-his-calling this season. He has the girl of his dreams but has met his match with DeVoe and cannot seem to get the upper hand. The Trickster does nothing but serve as the bad guy of the week as fans all know this ends with The Flash vs. The Thinker.

Do not let this go unnoticed: Hartley Sawyer, who plays Ralph Dibny AKA The Elongated Man, really proved his worth tonight. His character development went from cowering hero with an injury to conquiering hero who saves the lives of both Caitlin and Cisco (well that was kind of H.R. But he never gets any credit anyway)

What did you think of tonight’s episode?
