For many fans the end of Captain America: Civil War was a somber moment when Cap dropped his iconic shield and seemed to be stepping away from his identity of Captain America. It also left many wondering what would this mean for Steve Rogers in future films, would he no longer be Captain America and what would he do without his shield. Well as we now know based on statements from the film’s directors he will still be Captain America. But more importantly, thanks to recently released Marvel Legends action figures we have our first look at Cap’s new shield.
Based on the look of the shield it is easy to see it is made up of the two arm guards Cap was first seen wearing in the Avengers: Infinity War trailer. It looks like the shield can thus break in half to create two separate weapons to assist Rogers on the battlefield. The Wakandan design is clearly present based on the fact T’Challa has provided Cap with the weapon.
It will be very interesting to see Captain America use this new shield in the film but it also raises the question of when or even if he will get back his iconic shield.
The figure was also released alongside a number of other figures which give us new looks at both Spider-Man, Iron Man, and Proxima Midnight. However, these don’t offer as much new information as the Captain America figure.
