With Sony Pictures retaining the film rights to Spider-Man, the upcoming Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse serves as an example of the studio taking the famous web-slinger in a different direction, including the fact that Miles Morales will be the protagonist. Given the film’s inclusion of the Spider-Verse, it was likely Peter Parker would be in the film in addition to other Spider-Men. Not only will Parker be in the film, but a recent FandomWire report has said that John Krasinski of The Office and 13 Hours fame will lend his voice to the character.
The FandomWire report states that a source close to the production team witnessed Krasinski in the recording studio doing lines for the character. It was also noted that Tom Hardy, who is playing Venom in the Venom solo film, was alongside Krasinski at the studio. This source has not reported to anyone outside FandomWire, so it is unclear at the moment if his involvement in the film is true.
With Krasinski’s background in dramatic and comedic roles, it makes sense that he would play a wisecracking character that has struggled through life. Even though his recent projects have been more dramatic than comedic such as 13 Hours and the upcoming A Quiet Place, playing Peter Parker would give him another opportunity to showcase his comedic talent that was present in The Office.
