‘Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle’ Sequel Greenlit, Original Screenwriters and Director Return

Shortly after Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle was released, a sequel was announced. The sequel has since been confirmed, and Scott Rosenberg and Jeff Pinkner are in negotiations to pen the script. The film has made $824.8m so far, and will most likely continue to make more in theaters. This was definitely a success for Sony.

The film will bring back the starring cast of Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Dwayne Johnson, and Karen Gillan. Jake Kasdan will most likely return to direct the film. Producer Matt Tolmach will also be back to produce the film, along with the Seven Bucks team of [Dwayne] Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia. The movie has no production start date yet.

Rosenberg and Pinkner helped pen Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, with the help of Venom screenwriters Chris McKenna and Eric Sommers. No word yet on whether or not McKenna and Sommers will join Rosenberg and Pinkner in penning the script. It seems as though Sony wants to stay with the same writers, so maybe they will join in on the project.

Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle is a sequel to the 1995 classic Jumanji starring Robin Williams. Robin Williams played Alan Parrish, a boy who got sucked into a board game and then freed from the game as the adult. The film also starred Kirsten Dunst and Bradley Pierce.

What do you guys think? Do you think they delivered on the first screenplay? Do you hope they can keep it going with the sequel? Tweet us your thoughts @SuperBroMovies!
