The Sony Pictures/Spider-Man character debacle is certainly a confusing one for the ages. Peter Parker exists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe while some of his supporting characters from the comics are off doing their own thing in Sony’s Marvel universe. The Tom Hardy-starring Venom will be released later this year and, now, it looks like Sony is placing the film based on Silver Sable and Black Cat on the fast track towards production.
Lindsey Beer (Chaos Walking, Godzilla vs. Kong) and Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Captain Marvel, Tomb Raider) have both been tapped to pen the script for Silver & Black, the project that has been in development for quite some time.
Gina Prince-Blythewood (Love & Basketball, The Secret Life of Bees) has signed on to direct the film with longtime Spider-Man movie producers Matt Tolmach and Amy Pascal producing.
Silver Sable, a mercenary who hunts war criminals, and Black Cat,a cat-burglar, are longtime supporting characters appearing in Spider-Man comics since 1985 and have both fought with and alongside the web-slinger.
