Update: Jon Favreau’s Important Alien Role in ‘SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY’ Revealed

The marketing train for Solo: A Star Wars Story officially took off this month with the release of the first teaser. The days of fans desperatley waiting and arguing over any content for Solo are now over. The first footage and plot information released have brought many doubtful fans on board. You cannot really blame people for being doubtful considering the film’s publicly known behind the scenes shakeups. What we can appreciate now are Lucasfilm’s attempts at assuring audiences that this will be truly be   a different Star Wars story. If you follow Director Ron Howard on twitter, then you know of his numerous posts expressing his excitement for the film. Today brought a new revelation from Howard concerning another big director’s involvement in the film.

Earlier in the month, fellow Disney director Jon Favreau tweeted the following picture of himself with Howard and Lucasfilm screenwriting veteran Lawrence Kasdan. Due to the location of the picture, it was assumed that he was only doing a post production studio visit to show support for his colleagues.

For no apparent reason Howard himself has decided to give insight into the details of Favreau’s original post. Favreau did take some time away from his Lion King directing duties to visit the studio, but for a very special reason that many did not anticipate.

To add more fuel to Solo marketing train- Favreau has just revealed the alien character that he will be voicing on Twitter. It turns out Howard was not exaggerating when he described the character as being important and cool. It just might be a fellow smuggler in Solo’s team!

There you have it, Favreau will be voicing the multiple armed monkey like alien smuggler in the film. If that sentence did not get you more excited for the film then who knows what will? For the time being, character details such as name and biology are being kept under wraps. Expect more information and possible better looks at the character in the upcoming months. Having such a great director actually be more than a simple one line cameo is very exciting. Some may forget that Favreau is as good an actor as he is a director. He can bring great material to Solo in this small role. Seeing aliens get highlighted in Star Wars is such a delight; more memorable weird characters the better.
