With over a decade of successful game releases spanning the globe, it was inevitable for a Call of Duty movie to soon be in the talks. The man possibly helming such a large project is none other than the director of Sicario 2, Stefano Sollima. Activision’s Blizzard has been rumored to be interested in choosing him as their director for the movie.
Now, if this is true, it may have already been revealed as to who would star in the Call of Duty big screen adaptation. Sollima has said prior that Tom Hardy and Chris Pine are at the top of his list of actors he’d like to work with. Whilst in Milan to screen his newest short film, The Legend of Red Hand, he told Metro.co.uk, that he was highly interested in working with the actors and is a fan of all their work.
Sollima spoke of Hardy in very high regards and even went on to say the following:
I mean, I like almost everything [he’s been in]. I’m waiting for his Venom. Even in Mad Max, he was great.
When talking about what Chris Pine can bring to the table, Sollima said:
He’s tough, but he’s smart and he can have a sense of humour but he can [also] be in such a dramatic role. I like when you feel that an actor can play with different nuances and tone because this means they’re a good actor.
This wouldn’t be either of the two actors’ first war movies with Chris Pine being in Wonder Woman and Hardy being in projects such as Black Hawk Down. The two of them definitely have the chops and Sicario 2 will maybe give us a glimpse of what’s to come if Sollima directs the Call of Duty project.
Only time will tell who is directing and who is playing in this movie. The idea of a Call of Duty movie is something many have wanted and now it could be a reality. What are your thoughts on seeing Hardy and Pine in a video game-based movie? Let us know over at SuperBroMovies!
