Disney’s live action Pinocchio has finally found it’s director.
Paul King, director of both critically acclaimed Paddington films is in talks to direct with Pinocchio with production beginning this fall. The live-action has been in the works for quite some time now. Skyfall director Sam Mendes was previously attached but later exited. Chris Weitz and Andrew Miano are producing the film with Jack Thorne rewriting the script.
Pinocchio follows the story of a puppet brought to life, who must prove he’s worthy of being a real boy.
Paul King is the perfect candidate to direct Pinocchio. Recent success with the Paddington films has put King as one of the hottest directors in Hollywood. King is also set to direct Warner Bros. Willy Wonka.
Pinocchio is joined by Aladdin, Oliver Twist, James and the Giant Peach, Cruella, Think, Peter Pan, The Sword in the Stone, The Little Mermaid, Prince Charming, Mulan, Christopher Robin, The Lion King, and Dumbo as Disney live action remakes currently in the works.
Pinocchio currently has no released date.
