The Brie Larson led Captain Marvel is beginning to round out its cast. Humans star Gemma Chan has joined the cast as Minn-Erva, a Kree geneticist, and spy, also known as Doctor Minerva.

The character first appeared in Captain Marvel #50 in 1977. She is an agent of the Kree army and one-time enemy of Mar-Vell. Doctor Minerva has a limited comic history so it’s likely some of her origin and alliances may be swayed slightly.

Gemma Chan has starred in ABC’s Humans for three seasons while making a few other film appearances. You can see her alongside Margot Robbie in the upcoming Mary Queen Of Scots, as well as in Warner Brothers Crazy Rich Asians.

Chan joins a star-studded cast in Captain Marvel that includes Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, Jude Law, Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck will direct the project with a script written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet.
