According To James Gunn, BABY GROOT Is Not Groot But Groot’s SON

Breaking news here, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn has confirmed that Baby Groot is not actually Groot without his memories but is Groot’s son. In a Twitter conversation, which is where Gunn chooses to announce most revelations about the Guardians films, the director revealed to the world this shocking news.

Most people assumed that following his unfortunate death at the end of Guardians of the Galaxy, that Baby Groot was actually Groot himself reincarnated. The fan-favorite character first made an appearance in an after-credit scene of the first Guardians before moving on to steal the show in Vol. 2.

So it appears that if we are to take this information at face value, Groot’s species, known as Flora Colossus, are able to reproduce just by planting a branch of their body. So is that to say if anyone else on Xandar decided to plant a loose branch of Groot, they would grow their own Baby Groot? I guess we’ll have to wait until Avengers: Infinity War to find out! –Jackson Hayes
